Privacy
Refract is designed so that we never see your work. This page explains what is and isn't collected when you use the tools and the Journal.
Your files
The image tools process files in your web browser. Images you add are read and converted on your own device and are never uploaded to our server or anyone else's. Generated CSS is created in your browser too.
Analytics cookies
With your permission, we use Google Analytics to understand which tools and articles people use, so we know what to improve. Google Analytics sets cookies (named _ga and _ga_*) and collects information such as the pages you visit, how you arrived, your approximate location, and your device and browser type. It does not see the files you process or the code you generate.
Analytics only loads after you click Accept on the cookie banner. If you click Reject, no analytics cookies are set. We have turned off Google signals and advertising features, and we do not use the data for advertising. Google processes this data on our behalf; see Google's privacy policy.
Other storage
Your cookie choice is saved in your browser so we don't ask again. If you leave a comment on the Journal, WordPress may save your name and email in a cookie to fill in the form next time, if you tick the box to allow it.
Fonts and other services
Fonts are served from this website rather than a third-party font service. The site shows no adverts.
Server logs
Like any website, our hosting provider keeps standard access logs (such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested) for security and to keep the service running.
Your rights
You can change your cookie choice at any time using the button above or the Cookie settings link in the footer. Under UK data protection law you can ask for access to, or deletion of, personal data we hold about you. If you have a question about privacy, contact the site owner.
